เมโทรนิดาโซล (Metronidazole) เป็นยาปฏิชีวนะที่ออกฤทธิ์ฆ่าเชื้อแบคทีเรียบางชนิดในร่างกาย ตัวยาสามารถใช้รักษาโรคได้หลายชนิด โดยเฉพาะการติดเชื้อจากแบคทีเรียชนิดที่ไม่ต้องใช้ออกซิเจนในการเจริญเติบโต (Anaerobic Bacteria) และสิ่งมีชีวิตเล็กเซลล์เดียวหรือโปรโตซัว (Protozoa Microorganisms)

โดยส่วนใหญ่ ยาเมโทรนิดาโซลจะใช้รักษาการติดเชื้อในช่องคลอด กระเพาะอาหาร ผิวหนัง เหงือกอักเสบรุนแรง และการติดเชื้อในทางเดินอาหารบางชนิด

ปริมาณการใช้ยา : 

โรคบิดอะมีบา (Amebiasis) ตัวอย่างการใช้ยาเมโทรนิดาโซลเพื่อรักษาโรคบิดอะมีบา

- เด็กอายุ 1–3 ปี รับประทานยา 100–200 มิลลิกรัม วันละ 3 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 5–10 วัน

- เด็กอายุ 3–7 ปี รับประทานยา 100–200 มิลลิกรัม วันละ 4 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 5–10 วัน

- เด็กอายุ 7–10 ปี รับประทานยา 400–800 มิลลิกรัม วันละ 3 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 5–10 วัน หรืออีกวิธีหนึ่งคือรับประทานยา 35–50 มิลลิกรัม/น้ำหนักตัว 1 กิโลกรัม/วัน โดยแบ่งเป็น 3 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 5–10 วัน และปริมาณยาสูงสุดไม่เกิน 2,400 มิลลิกรัม/วัน

- เด็กน้ำหนักน้อยกว่า 45 กิโลกรัม รับประทานยา 15–25 มิลลิกรัม/น้ำหนักตัว 1 กิโลกรัม/วัน โดยแบ่งเป็น 3 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 7 วัน และปริมาณยาสูงสุดไม่เกิน 2,000 มิลลิกรัม/วัน

- เด็กน้ำหนัก 45 กิโลกรัมขึ้นไป รับประทานยา 400 มิลลิกรัม วันละ 2 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 7 วัน และปริมาณยาสูงสุดไม่เกิน 2,000 มิลลิกรัม/วัน

- ผู้ใหญ่ รับประทานยา 400 มิลลิกรัม วันละ 2 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 5–7 วัน หรือรับประทานยา 2,000 มิลลิกรัม รับประทานเพียงครั้งเดียว

- ผู้ใหญ่ รับประทานยา 200 มิลลิกรัม วันละ 3 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 7 วัน หรือรับประทานยา 400 มิลลิกรัม วันละ 2 ครั้ง เป็นเวลา 5–7 วัน หรืออีกวิธีหนึ่งคือรับประทานยา 2,000 มิลลิกรัมโดยรับประทานเพียงครั้งเดียว และคู่นอนควรรับประทานยาด้วย

Most commonly, metronidazole is used to treat severe vaginal, stomach, skin, and gingivitis infections. and certain types of gastrointestinal infections.

Properties/Indications for use : Treat diseases that are caused by bacteria.

Dosage of medicine : 

Amoebic dysentery. (Amebiasis) Example of using metronidazole to treat amoebic dysentery.

- Children aged 1–3 years take 100–200 mg 3 times a day for 5–10 days.

- Children aged 3–7 years take 100–200 mg 4 times a day for 5–10 days.
